The Nebraska Library Commission purchases statewide access to the following eleven databases through FirstSearch.  Note: These databases DO NOT contain full text. Some material identified using these databases may be available in your local library or on the Internet. If material isn’t available locally you may be able to obtain it through a service called interlibrary loan. Ask your local librarian for details.
  • ArticleFirst – An index to articles from over 16,000 magazines/journals.
  • ClasePeriodica – Index of Latin American journals in the sciences and humanities.
  • Ebooks – OCLC catalog of online electronic books available through libraries worldwide.
  • ECO – An Index to articles from over 5,000 scholarly journals
  • ERIC – An index to journal articles and reports in education
  • GPO - An index to U.S. government publications
  • MEDLINE – An index to all areas of medicine, including nursing and dentistry.
  • OAIster – Contains records of digital resources from open-archive collections worldwide, including theses, technical reports, research pages and images.
  • PapersFirst – An index to papers presented at conferences worldwide.
  • Proceedings – An index to worldwide conference proceedings.
  • WorldCat – Catalog of books and other materials in libraries worldwide.
  • WorldCatDissertations – A database of dissertations, theses and published material based on theses cataloged by OCLC members.
Uses:
  • Find references to articles, books, reports and other material on topics of interest.
